Avian Night Sky

The series titled Avian Night Sky is a collaborative project pairing the paintings of Marybeth Garrigan and Petra Johnita Lommen with the original music of Jerry Kosak. Avian Night Sky expresses the observations of birds and astronomical fascination. Using bird formsare more than a wildlife trope. Birds and stars link us to our primal past, a mythology created to emphasize the migration of us as humans. Stars are the perfect backdrop to the visual bird stories that become a blend of science, magic, and beauty. Jerry created music inspired by the paintings. Some of the songs are perhaps more representational than others, depending where my musical freedom led me and also where the listener’s mind takes them. Because of the complexity of Jerry’s music, the performance will be from the official studio recording of the album.
